Solar Street Light Installation Height Guide

Installation height is the most practical way to choose between the AN-SLZ models, because each model publishes a recommended height band. The 40W model is recommended for 4 to 7 metres, the 60W model for 5 to 8 metres, the 80W model for 6 to 9 metres, and the 100W, 120W and 150W models for 7 to 10 metres. Those bands are the published recommendations, and this guide explains how to use them.

Height and coverage are linked by the 140 degree illumination angle. A lower pole concentrates the light over a smaller area, which suits narrow paths and small yards. A higher pole spreads the same light over a larger area, which suits wide roads and large yards, but the light level at the ground falls as the area grows. That is why a model chosen for a pole outside its band performs badly in both directions: too low wastes the wide angle, too high thins the light out.

In practice, the pole height is often fixed before the lamp is chosen, by an existing pole, a planning rule or a road standard. In that case, the height band narrows the choice to one or two models, and the panel and battery figures then decide between them. Where the pole height is not yet fixed, the road width and the required light level should be set first, and the pole height and model chosen together from a lighting calculation. No price or delivery time is published for these models, and none is stated here.
