Solar Street Light Sensor Modes

The AN-SLZ series is described as offering three control modes, switchable by remote control: light control, microwave sensing and remote control operation. This guide explains what each mode does and when to use it, using only the published series description.

Light control switches the lamp on at dusk and off at dawn, based on ambient light. It suits roads and public areas that need light all night, because the behaviour is simple and predictable: the lamp is on when it is dark, and off when it is light. It uses the most stored energy of the three modes, because it runs at full output all night, so it needs the largest battery reserve for the same autonomy.

Microwave sensing, combined with the PIR sensor module described for the series, raises the output when movement is detected and drops it back afterwards. The PIR sensor distance is more than 8 metres. This mode suits quiet roads, yards and parks, where full light is only needed when a person or vehicle is present. It saves stored energy on quiet hours, which extends the autonomy on cloudy stretches, but it needs the sensor to be positioned so that approaching movement is actually detected.

Remote control operation lets the behaviour be set manually, without visiting each pole. It suits sites where the lighting requirement changes, for example a yard that is busy during one season and quiet during another, or a site where a special event needs full light for one night. The three modes can be combined in practice: light control as the base behaviour, sensing to save energy, and remote control to change the setting when needed.
