IP66 Outdoor Durability Guide
The AN-SLZ series is published with an ingress protection rating of IP66, a working temperature range of minus 25 degrees Celsius to 65 degrees Celsius, an aluminium alloy and PMMA housing, and a wind resistance rating of level 16. This guide explains what those figures mean in outdoor use, and what they do not promise.
IP66 means the unit is dust-tight and protected against powerful water jets. In practice, that means rain and washing down should not let water into the housing. It does not mean the unit can be submerged, and it does not guarantee anything about salt corrosion, which is a separate question for coastal sites. The rating is a test result for the housing, not a guarantee for every component inside it.
The temperature range of minus 25 to 65 degrees Celsius covers most climates, but battery performance still falls in extreme cold, and charging behaviour changes at temperature extremes. A project in a very cold or very hot climate should confirm the battery behaviour at those temperatures in the inquiry, rather than assuming the headline range covers every case. The level 16 wind resistance rating describes the mounting bracket's resistance, and the pole and foundation must be rated to match, because a strong bracket on a weak pole does not make a strong installation.
